Low-Carbon Dairy Farm Demonstration
Faculty of Architecture , Bang Khen Campus
Details
The Low-Carbon Dairy Farm Demonstration, initiated by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture, piloted practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while improving milk productivity. The system integrated methane-reducing feed formulas, manure management through biogas, and renewable energy in milking parlors such as solar panels and water recycling systems.
The project emphasized building a farm database to record emissions, milk yields, cow health, and production costs. This data was leveraged in farmer and student training, laying the groundwork for national standards in low-carbon dairy farming.
In the first year, methane emissions per cow dropped by 28%, average milk yield rose by 12%, and energy costs decreased by 18%. The demonstration farm became a practical learning site with over 450 visitors. The initiative aligns with SDG 2, SDG 7, and SDG 13, and fulfills 2025 indicators 96, 210, and 111.
