Zero-Waste Campus Canteen
Faculty of Engineering at Sriracha , Sriracha Campus
Details
The Faculty of Agro-Industry launched a zero-waste canteen program by implementing waste separation at source for food scraps, recyclables, and reusable packaging. Four-type bins were installed with QR codes tracking shop and user performance.
Food waste was fed into an anaerobic digester to produce biogas for cooking in the canteen, with digestate converted into organic fertilizer for campus green areas.
In the first year, landfill waste was reduced by 70%, greenhouse gas emissions cut by 110 tCO2e, and over 2,500 students and staff engaged. The project aligns with SDG 12 and SDG 13, and fulfills 2024 indicators 34 and 96.
