Zero Single-Use Plastic Campus Campaign
Faculty of Public Health , Chalermphrakiat Sakon Nakhon Province Campus
Details
To tackle rising plastic waste, this campaign launched a “Zero Single-Use Plastic Campus” in partnership with canteens, shops, and student clubs. Single-use bags, straws, and cups were phased out, replaced with reusable cup/box schemes and a deposit-refund incentive.
Students led activities such as “Cup Swap Days” with discounts, creative alternative product contests, and social media shorts promoting plastic reduction. Researchers tracked waste flows and provided evidence-based recommendations for campus policy.
In the first year, single-use bags and cups declined by over 1.2 million items, while reusable cup adoption rose by 64%. The project reduced waste and fostered responsible consumption culture, advancing SDG 12 and SDG 14.
