Details

To reduce water demand for campus lawns and gardens, the Faculty of Engineering designed a water reuse system that treated wastewater from academic buildings for landscape irrigation. The system included phytoremediation, sand filtration, and UV disinfection.

Treated water was distributed through a pipe network for irrigation, significantly cutting potable water use. Sensors monitored water quality and usage volumes, building a management database.

In its first year, potable water use was reduced by over 45,000 m³, saving 900,000 THB, and the system served as a learning site for over 200 environmental engineering students. The project aligns with SDG 6 and SDG 12, and fulfills 2024 indicators 34 and 96.
