This project treated wastewater from dormitories and canteens using a constructed wetland with aquatic plants like cattail, reeds, and lotus, enabling reuse for irrigation and landscaping.
The system integrated biological and physical processes—sediment filtration, nutrient absorption, and organic matter degradation—while training 200+ students in construction and maintenance.
Year-one results: 18,000 m³ of water recycled, campus tap-water demand reduced 28%, and treated effluent met <20 mg/L BOD standards. The project supports SDG 6, SDG 12, and SDG 15, and fulfills 2024 indicators 34 and 96.
