Green Campus Waste Sorting and Recycling Program
Faculty of Agro-Industry , Bang Khen Campus
Details
This project established a waste management system on campus with five-bin separation: organic, recyclable, hazardous, general, and reusable packaging, deployed at 160 key spots with clear visual signage. Over 2,800 students engaged in waste-sorting demonstrations and learned about landfill impacts.
The program partnered with private recyclers for plastics and metals, and converted canteen organic waste into compost used in green areas and vegetable plots, achieving a closed-loop waste cycle.
First-year results: landfill waste reduced 62%, equivalent to avoiding 420 tCO2e. The project aligns with SDG 12 and SDG 13, and fulfills 2023 indicators 34 and 96.
