Solar Rooftop Cooperative for Campus and Surrounding Community
Faculty of Economics at Sriracha , Sriracha Campus
Details
This initiative, led by the Faculty of Engineering in collaboration with campus facilities and nearby communities, established a solar rooftop cooperative across classrooms and dormitories with a total installed capacity of 1.8 MW. The system integrated smart energy management and allowed surplus electricity sales to surrounding households at below-market rates, reducing member electricity bills by an average of 15% per month.
Beyond economic benefits, the project served as a renewable energy learning hub. Students gained hands-on skills in system design, installation, and energy data management, while researchers tested technologies such as battery storage and AI-based load forecasting.
First-year results cut greenhouse gas emissions by over 2,400 tCO2e, generated 5.6 million THB in cooperative revenue, and enrolled more than 320 households. The project advances SDG 7, SDG 11, and SDG 13, and matches 2025 indicators 96, 210, and 111.
