Details

With over 200 acres of campus greenspace requiring heavy irrigation, this project introduced smart irrigation with 120 soil moisture sensors linked to an automated control system. Real-time data optimized watering schedules, reducing waste of water and energy.

Staff were trained to interpret sensor readings, adjust irrigation by weather conditions, and maintain the system. Students researched water savings, plant health, and user satisfaction compared to traditional practices.

First-year results showed water use for landscaping cut by 27%, with healthier vegetation and lawn quality. Annual water bills decreased by 1.8M THB. The initiative aligns with SDG 6 and SDG 13 and matches indicators 34 and 96 for 2024.
