Campus Low-Carbon and Climate Adaptation Plan
Faculty of Science at Sriracha , Sriracha Campus
Details
This project was initiated to prepare the university for climate change by building a comprehensive GHG inventory covering energy use, land use, buildings, and staff/student commuting. The team designed mitigation measures such as cool roofs, increased tree shading, and retrofitting lighting and HVAC systems for higher efficiency.
Pilot trials were carried out in three academic buildings with real-time energy monitoring and micro-climate stations. Results showed an average 18% reduction in monthly electricity consumption and a 2.3°C decrease in indoor temperatures. Vertical greenery installations were also tested, providing carbon sequestration and more comfortable outdoor learning spaces.
The project delivered a university-wide Low-Carbon Action Plan with a target of Net-Zero by 2050, a climate adaptation guideline for educational institutions, and policy recommendations for replication across campuses. It directly advances SDG 13 and SDG 7.
