From 2024 to the present in 2026, throughout the continuous implementation of the "Kut Chik Model Project," operations have now entered Phase 3. The Faculty of Science and Engineering, Kasetsart University Chalermphrakiat Sakon Nakhon Province Campus, in partnership with Central Group, has collaborated on policy planning with the community, transferring academic knowledge and providing academic services aligned with SDG policies under the “Kut Chik Model Phase 1-3 by Central and Kasetsart” at Ban Kut Chik, Na Kham Subdistrict, Wanon Niwat District, Sakon Nakhon Province.

1.       SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth: Promotes job creation and elevates the community economy by transferring technology through academic knowledge, upgrading processed textile weaving, and developing eco-tourism to generate secure and sustainable income for the residents of Ban Kut Chik. 

2.       SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production: Transfers natural dyeing technology using local raw materials and plants on cotton fibers, reduces the use of hazardous chemicals, promotes eco-friendly production processes, and expands toward high-value products. 

3.       SDG 15: Life on Land: Establishes and develops a dye-yielding forest learning center (covering approximately 18 rai) to rehabilitate and plan forest management, conserve natural resources, and properly utilize local dye-producing plants without damaging the ecosystem. 

4.       SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals: Importance and problem analysis

Project Objectives:

(1) To enhance the quality and efficiency of natural dyeing on cotton fibers using local raw dye materials.

(2) To establish the Ban Kut Chik Dye-Yielding Forest Learning Center.

(3) To develop a community tourism route for Ban Kut Chik; and (4) to synthesize lessons learned and produce a manual on the utilization of dye-producing plants in natural cotton fiber dyeing based on the Ban Kut Chik way of life.

The project was carried out with the collaboration of 100 members from the indigo weaving community enterprise and residents of Ban Kut Chik, Wanon Niwat District, Sakon Nakhon Province, alongside 20 university students, 10 faculty members, and 5 operational staff members, totaling 135 participants. The team conducted field surveys, interviewed local scholars and wisdom holders, and gathered data across multiple dimensions. This information was analyzed to establish holistic operational plans and policies, supporting the business initiation process of the community enterprise across upstream, midstream, and downstream operations, as well as enabling continuous progress tracking within the community.

Through the integration and transfer of academic knowledge and operational guidelines to the community, members of the Ban Kut Chik Processed Weaving Community Enterprise have enhanced their capacities in natural dyeing on cotton fibers using local dye materials. Furthermore, Ban Kut Chik now features a dye-yielding forest learning center, manages the sustainable utilization of dye plants, and offers a community tourism route connected with the "Sanuk" provincial cluster tourism network (Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan). These achievements have been applied to eradicate poverty in all dimensions, establishing a sustainable self-management model led by the people of the Ban Kut Chik community themselves.
