Green Mobility Pilot: Electric Shuttle and Cycling Lanes
Faculty of Science and Engineering , Chalermphrakiat Sakon Nakhon Province Campus
Details
This project aimed to reduce campus travel emissions by deploying 12 electric shuttles and solar-powered charging stations capable of handling six vehicles simultaneously. The system provided clean, efficient transport across main university routes.
A 7.2 km cycling lane network linked dorms, academic buildings, and the sports complex, with solar lighting and smart traffic signage for safety. Monthly cycling and walking campaigns promoted eco-friendly commuting culture.
Within a year, private car use fell 18%, campus travel emissions dropped by 720 tCO2e, and regular cyclists grew by 1,200. The project supports SDG 11 and SDG 13, fulfilling 2023 indicators 34 and 96.
