This initiative, led by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Faculty of Agriculture, developed livestock management systems that reduce greenhouse gas emissions from dairy and swine farms. IoT sensors tracked animal health in real time, including respiration, body temperature, and daily activity, with analytics predicting heat stress and disease risks in advance.
Feed additives such as seaweed and herbal extracts were tested to reduce methane, alongside manure management through biogas systems producing renewable energy for farm use. Student involvement fostered interdisciplinary learning across animal nutrition, environmental technology, and energy engineering.
First-year outcomes showed methane emissions reduced by 26% in dairy and 18% in swine, while milk yield and body weight increased by 12%. Biogas use cut farm energy costs by 22%. The project aligns with SDG 2 and SDG 13, and meets 2025 indicators 96, 210, and 111.
