Organizational Carbon Accounting and Unit-level Action Plans
Faculty of Agriculture at Kamphaeng Saen , Kamphaeng Saen Campus
Details
To professionalize data-driven environmental management, the project built a unit-level carbon accounting system that consolidates electricity, travel, procurement, and waste activities into annual dashboards and targets for each faculty or office. Automated links with smart meters and the student cooperative’s purchasing system minimized manual entry and improved data integrity.
Four hands-on trainings enabled unit coordinators to calculate Scopes 1–3 using their own datasets. A “measure menu” matched marginal abatement cost curves to building contexts—HVAC setpoint optimization, lamp retrofits, load shifting, and travel demand reduction—while communication kits helped secure leadership and community buy-in.
In the first year, 18 units produced trackable reduction plans and nine began investing in measures with paybacks under three years. The accounting platform was integrated into environmental management courses and student capstones, advancing SDG 12 and paving the way for SDG 13, while aligning with 2024 rules that emphasize service and knowledge transfer.
